HP 15-n011nr
Microsoft Windows 8 (64-bit)

I have a HP 15-n011nr and have been using the laptop for the past couple years without any issues, but recently it's been having problems that I just can't seem to find a solution to. For starters, it takes a long time for it to boot up and proceed to the login screen. When it does manage to get to the login screen and I've logged on successfully, it begins to constantly freeze and there's very little I can do. It's pretty much unusable and after a while the laptop just stops responding and I have to force shut down.

I've looked for solution online, even tried system recovery and factory reset, but it hasn't fixed the issue at all. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Sounds like the hard drive is starting to fail and will need to be replaced. Immediately after powering on start tapping the Esc key. This should open a menu where F2 System Diagnostics is an option, Tap F2 key and run the tests.

Thanks for the reply. I just did a quick system scan and the "Hard Drive Short DST" Check failed. Everything else passed though.

DST: Fail=  the hard drive has failed/is failing and will need to be replaced. If you are still in warranty HP will send a replacement. If not a retail laptop 2.5" SATA hard drive can be used. Just be sure to get one of at least equal capacity as the original in order to use HP Recovery Media to install Windows. It can be larger, but not smaller capacity. For instance if you have a 500GB hdd you could use a 750GB hdd but not a 320GB hdd.

Your Maintenance and Service Guide-unfortunately your model is not one of the easiest to change hard drive. If you aren't comfortable with disassembling the laptop you might take it to a local pc repair shop, or Best Buy,Staples, etc.
