I have an I have HP pavilions g7 notebook- 1227. I downloaded  windows 10.  I need to check for updates but my model is only shown with windows 7 and 8.1 First did I mess up by downloading 10 and second how do I find updates? My touchpad is not reacting well. I must tap several times to get it to accept command and I thought an update might solve issue.

I don't have a computer background so excuse my naivte. Do I need to do anything else once it is downloaded? It is saying I can connect device. Seeing as it it the touchpad attached to my laptop there is nothing to connect.
