Not sure people are still reading this thread after 6 years but I will anyhow reply to HaggisCat's suggestion that it is safe to remove HP Wireless Assistant, etc.,

High end HP Notebooks like HP-Compaq 8710 that come with pre-installed HP firmware to control HP customized devices like 2 sensors, WLAN modules (and Ethernet), sound system, etc., share DLLs and when a program is arbitrarily uninstalled certain drivers may not function properly or even fail (BSOD when booting). Difficult to determine what can be safely removed, best to leave everything alone even when upgrading to Windows10 and some drivers are not working. disabling devices is also not recommended as booting may hang on slow systems while errors will be logged in Event Viewer. Revo Uninstaller and the like are also not recommended as linked keys may be skipped (becoming orphans) or even worse, a complete running process may be deleted only because of one common value and will corrupt the registry and system (BSOD or worse.....). To test this (don't!) try to uninstall Java8 with the "Deep" option in Revo and select "delete" after each screen and you will find out the disastrous consequences..... When Wireless Assistant and parts of Software Framework are missing the free Microsoft Security Essentials anti-malware program will not run as MS WlanConfig and many other running services that have same service dependency as MSE will clash when booting (BSOD).
