Thanks, this worked perfectly on my new Spectre x2 (win 8.1).  I wasn't paying close enough attention when I did it the first time and inadvertantly used 64 GB microSD card. I recovered my expensive card and now have recovery on cheap disks.

In order to find the files to be deleted, you must change your folder options to show hidden files and drives. Type folder options in search to bring it up.

Have a p2 1310 desktop and this didn't work.  Files don't exist.  Mine was an open box computer.  It runs great.  I think previous owner just didn't like Windows 8 - but whoever it was made the Recovery Disks and now I'm out in the cold.  No way I'm going to buy what I should have been able to make - but HP  has dropped the ball on this one.

I do not have W8, I'm not interested in W8.

Sorry, you will have to get your answers somewhere else.

Hey, if you delete something from the D:\ recovery drive, it becomes corrupt, so how do you pull this off?  Contradictory statements here. Need more info before I try this.
