Touchpad left click stops working intermittently

HP EliteBook 840 G1
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Hello all,

I have a HP EliteBook 840 G1 laptop and sometimes its left touchpad click stops working (it's totally intermittent). I have a colleague, who use the same laptop and has the same problem.

Please can someone advise.

Thanks,

Vishal

Hello there,

Please update the drivers for the touchpad, using the following instructions.

1. Go to the website www.hp.com/support

2. Click on get software and drivers

3. Enter your product number

4. Download and install the drivers for your touchpad

5. Also download and install the BIOS update as well

This should fix the issue. Please try it and let us know.

Cheers!

Hello Vamshi,

That was my first thinking as well. But all drivers and BIOS are up to date, and from the the HP website itself (the website you've mentioned above).

Any other troubleshooting we can try?

Thanks,

Vishal

Hi Vishal,

There was a similar post before with the same issue, you may wanna try one of the suggestions. See link here:

http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/HP-Laptop-left-mouse-button-not...

One suggest by simple trick by double tapping the touchpad with two fingers, and find the clickpad button starts working again.  Hope this helps!
