Using Keyboard when in tablet mode

HP Recommended
Envy
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I was curious if there was a way to use the keyboard on the device while in tablet mode so that I can use the hardware while the screen is projected on to a second monitor.

I have the Envy Notebook purchased in 2015 (sorry I don't know more model descriptions)

Again, I have the screen projected to a second monitor and I want to be able to use the keyboard while they screen is flipped over faced down (dont worry I have a cushion to protect the screen) and the device is in the tablet orientation.

Thanks

Hi @guitarguy80033,

Thank you for visiting the HP Forums! A great place where you can find solutions for your issues with help from the community! I understand that you that you need assistance for using the keyboard in tablet mode. I’ll gladly assist you with this.

You’ve done an excellent job on diagnosing the issue from your end. Kudos to you on that score. We greatly value your relationship with HP. You are a valued HP customer and we appreciate you greatly for doing business with HP. I take it as a privilege to share this platform with you.

First off ,I would require the model# of the unit to assist you better. Most HP tablets are designed in such a way that the keyboard is disabled in tablet mode only to ensure that it functions as a fully functional tablet.  In such cases, the workaround would be to connect a wireless keyboard to the tablet and use it or a USB wired keyboard.

This link could assist you better: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01703941

You could also enable the virtual keyboard in windows 10. Link: http://www.windowscentral.com/auto-display-touch-keyboard-windows-10-desktop-mode
