looking for windows 7 driver of HP Pavilion 17-e049wm Notebook, win8 > win7 downgrade install

Hi:

Here are the drivers you need in order to run W7 64 bit on your notebook...

First, install the amd chipset driver and reboot.  You want the first file listed on the webpage.

http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/chipset?os=Windows%207%20-%2064

Next, install the amd catalyst graphics driver and reboot.

Audio:  Accept the agreement, download and install the second driver on the list.

Ethernet:  Download and install the fourth driver on the list.

Wireless:

USB 3.0:  Install both (only need if the AMD chipset driver doesn't install the usb controllers).

looking for windows 7 driver of HP Pavilion 17-e049wm Notebook, win8 > win7 downgrade install

Hi there, I follow the post from Paul Tikkanen with great success, I had the same issue, same model.

For me there was one complication, the USB 3 drivers didn't work. A workaround for this (for me) was installing USB 3 drivers from a similar model.

http://drivers.softpedia.com/get/MOTHERBOARD/AMD/MSI-GX60-3BE-AMD-USB-30-Driver-110145-for-Windows-7...

Hope this helps!

looking for windows 7 driver of HP Pavilion 17-e049wm Notebook, win8 > win7 downgrade install

Hi to all,

I also installed Win7 on my HP Pavilion 17-e049wm, after i followed all the information here and everything went smoothly and all drivers installed corectly, so now i am a lot happier with the performance of my laptop and i love it! It was a great laptop to begin with and now it's magnificent!!

Only one thing, i 'd love to fix. Is there a way to make the fuction keys to work with Win7? I tried changing the "Action Key Mode in BIOS" but they don't work with or without the "Fn" key.

Thank you in advance

Hi:

See if this utility will work for you...

This package contains the HP System Event Utility for supported notebook models running a supported operating system. HP System Event Utility enables special function keys to be programmed.

File name: sp70439.exe

Thank you Paul for the quick response!

Unfortunately the file you told me to install didn't make them work either.

I read in a similar post, thah maybe i have to install a tool called "HP Quick Launch buttons", so i can program the function keys, but i didn't find it in my laptop's support page for Windows 8. Is there something was needed for Windows 7 based laptops only?

Any other suggestions?

Thanks again.

You're very welcome.

Sorry that didn't work.

There is Quick Launch software, but I doubt it will work since the last time it was revised was in 11/2012.

The Quick Launch Buttons software was superceded by the above software.

If you want that too, this is the last revision. and I would say that this definitely won't work.

Ok, so i have to apologise. . .

The file "HP System Event Utility" (sp70439.exe), you told me to install DID work!

I thought that it didn't, because there is no visual indication, like it was in Windows 8 (you could see for example, the bar for sound or brihgtness on screen), but they DO work now, you just can't see the progress bar on screen.

Thank you again and sorry for my 1st response.

You're very welcome.

See if the W7 on screen display utility works for the progress bar on the display.

This package provides the HP On-Screen Display Utility for the supported notebook models and operating systems. The HP On-Screen Display Utility enables the pop-up graphic displays that are shown on the screen when certain characteristics, such as volume or brightness, are changed.

File name: sp55152.exe

Paul my friend YOU ARE A STAR!!!

Now also the visual indicator of fuction keys is working!!

With this kind of immidiate and professional support, it will be very difficult in the future to buy anything else but HP products!!!

I wish you a nice summer!

Thank you!!
