touchpad not working

Hey there! @plasmasurfer, Thanks for stopping by the HP Support Forums!

I understand that touchpad on your laptop is not functioning.

Thanks for performing troubleshooting. Please uninstall the touchpad drivers from device manager. Restart your PC.

Please update the touchpad drivers from Synaptics website.

Install this particular driver: Windows 10 PS/2 & SMBus Devices v19.0.19.1*

Let me know if this works!

Cheers! :)

touchpad not working

Hi Mr. Robot,

Thanks a lot for your prompt reply. I tried all that many times. Uninstalled the driver, rebooted and installed a new driver from both, the HP and Synaptics web page. Did not work.

Then I read a comment to take out the battery and put it back in. Instead I ran he computer without power supply until the battery was empty. I then plugged it back into the power supply and started it up. The touchpad worked again and is still working.

Again, thanks fro your help.

Kind Regards,

Andreas

Hi! @plasmasurfer, thanks for the response.

Thanks for performing the troubleshooting steps.

Please try updating BIOS and check if that helps.

If the issue still persists please try running system recovery.
