I get an "Out of Paper" error when there is a tray of paper in the machine. I have pulled the tray out and reloaded it and sometimes it will work for a few pages and then it comes back. I also get what sounds like wheels spinning really fast, so figure there is a feed problem. Then it will pop up with a "paper jam" error. After inspecting the unit, there is no paper jam. I get it ready to print, which usually is a power cycle/reset by unplugging it from power, counting to 60 and then plugging it back in. Sometimes it will work and other times it goes back to either "Paper Jam" or "Printer Failure". Neither of which are easily corrected. Any ideas? I would like to keep this out of the landfill. I am a retired computer repair tech that still dabbles.

@BluStang,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd like to help!

I understand you are facing multiple issues(out of paper, paper jam, printer failure) with the printer

We can perform a factory defaults on the printer to resolve the issue

  • The reset instructions are specific for your printer and performing those steps on a different printer may corrupt the device.
  • I've sent you a private message with reset instructions, follow the reset instruction to perform a full reset and re-initialize the printer.
  • In order to access your private messages, click the private message icon on the upper right corner of your HP Support Community profile, next to your profile Name or simply click on this link: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/notes/privatenotespage

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
