HP M425dw laserjet
macOS 10.15 Catalina

Have a M425dw.  Worked 100& for a few years. Currently on 3 compatible toners and 1 (black) Original. No issues all toner communicate, give use, toner amounts left etc.

 

Was offered an upgrade on screen by the printer to latest update. updated (no messages, terms of use etc). update worked fine but immediate after that the printer locked down and will not work. Reason. A simple screen. saying 'Supply problems'.  In the ?   option it only states the indicated (all of them) are not communicating properly.

 

So pre update all working 100%, post update, it will not recognise any cartridge, not even the original long life black.  Done all the usual resets, etc.

 

The upgrade ID is from 21 October 2020 is seems.

So this upgrade now seems to prevent use of compatibles or at least the ones I have had installed for about 5 months.  

As this clock out if on the device, its not a Mac OS issue. I have been into web settings and the toners have no. data, except the black one, where. as pre upgrade, all toners communicated.

 

Suggestions please.

 

Mac OS running. Big Sur latest version. Printer is network connected and Big Sur talks to it.  Even if this requires a downgrade thats fine but I would need to know were the HP file is and how to downgrade please.
