Printer Drivers compatable with Windows 10 update 1803 for a HP 4650 printer

Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Windows 10 updated my HP laptop on Friday with build 1803.  Since that time I can not connect my printer to my lap top.  Microsoft tells me that I need an updated driver that is compatable with build 1803.  HP says they have not began to develop them yet so I cant add a new printer or use my current printer that was fully functional prior to the Windows 10 build....Help

Thanks for taking an interest in the HP Support Forums After reading your post I see that you are unable to install HP OfficeJet 4650 printer after Windows 10 update. I will be a delight to assist you here.

Superb analysis and brilliant diagnosis of the issue before posting. :)  Kudos to you on that score.:)

 

For better clarity and to assist you better I would require more information regarding this:

  • Did you try to download the printer drivers from HP support website?

Meanwhile

Uninstall your printer from Programs and Features

  1. If your printer connects to the computer with a USB cable, disconnect the cable from the printer.

  2. Search Windows for programs and features, and then click Programs and Features in the list of results.

  3. In the list of installed programs, click your HP printer name, and then click Uninstall or Yes.

  4. If a User Account Control message displays, click Yes.

  5. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the software removal.

  6. After the software uninstall is complete, restart the computer.

Remove the printer from the devices list

  1. Make sure the printer is turned on and in a ready state.

  2. If your printer connects to the computer with a USB cable, disconnect the cable from the printer.

  3. Search Windows for devices, then click Devices and Printers in the list of results.

  4. Right-click the icon for your printer , click Remove Device, then follow the on-screen instructions to complete the printer removal.

Sorry I have the same problem with the C4680 and Win 10 v1803. Still getting the same issues. Win 10 is blocking the install of the scanner part of the driver/programs. (not av software but win 10 itself.) keep getting message "access denied" bit of research show this is a driver folder which is "locked" and cannot be unlocked.

Thanks for visiting the HP community. A very good day to you!  I read the post regarding issues with printing and installation. I will be delighted to assist you here. 

You’ve done an excellent job of diagnosing the issue from your end. Superb effort and spectacular research were done as well.  Kudos to you on that score.  I take it as a privilege to share this platform with you. :)

To assist you with accurate information I would require more information regarding this:

  • Did you run HP print and scan doctor?
  • Did this occur after a Software or Windows update?

For now, try these steps:

  • Perform a hard reset on the printer from this link: https://hp.care/2CRLZwE and follow instructions from the section “Step 1: Reset the printer

If it continues, then uninstall and reinstall the printer software at the root level by following these instructions:

  • Uninstall the printer from "programs and features" which can be accessed by doing a right-click on the Windows button (Please have the printer Off and disconnected during uninstallation.)
  • Check in device manager, if the printer is listed there, please delete it. (Right click on the Windows button to access device manager)
  • Go to devices and printers, in control panel and select any printer listed there and you will get some options on the top. 
  • Click on print server properties. 
  • You will get a popup, click on the drivers tab and delete all the HP printer drivers listed there if any.
  • Delete all the instances of your printer listed in devices and printers.
  • Restart the PC.
  • Once the PC is on the desktop, press Win + R, it would bring a Run dialog box, 
  • Type %temp% in the run box and click Ok or hit the Enter button.
  • It would bring up the temporary files folder. Delete the files in the folder (You might not be able to delete all the files).
  • If possible, delete the printer from the registries using Regedit or using any other 3rd party application.
  • Ignore the Regedit option if it cannot be done.
  • Restart the PC again. 

 

Then download the latest full feature driver from https://hp.care/2rc97lu and install it on the computer after selecting the correct operating system.

Connect the printer to your computer only when the setup prompts for the printer.

This should fix the issue. Now check for issue resolution. If it continues, please update the printer firmware also by following instructions from this link: https://hp.care/2rHKwDD

 

If this does not do the trick, please download the Windows Built-in drivers by following instructions from this link: https://hp.care/2o3acvH

  • This should resolve the issue for you. There is an associated YouTube Video on how to install the built-in drivers.
  • Please ensure to connect the printer using multiple USB cables if the printer is not recognized by the first USB cable.

Perform all these steps patiently as it is critical to resolving the issue. Good luck to you. I will keep a watch for your response.
