The scanner itself is not duplex. This is done all in software by scanning one side of each page first, then putting the pages back in the feeder rotating them half turn (not turning them over) and scanning the other side. The software will do the merging and you will get a scanned document with both pages scanned in the corret order as if you had an actual duplex scanner. A bit clunky but it works nicely as long as no pages jam. I have used it many times without issues. It needs to be done from the computer though. There is no way to do this from the printer control panel.
A bit of advice. Never believe what the salesperson in the store says. Do the research online, read reviews, read questions and answer and then draw your conclusions.
