Solved!

Mac OS10.6 cannot create print queue for HP B110

HP Recommended

Has anyone seen this problem?

I have an iMac running OS10.6, and a HP photosmart B110a.

The software installs fine from CD on to the Mac, but when I try to create a print queue in Bonjour, it says there is some software missing, and will not continue.  I can see the printer on the network.  I can scan from it to the Mac.  I can even see print status messages from it.  I can print over the wireless network fine from the Mac mini downstairs (it installed fine on this, as per instructions), from my iphone, and from my wife's Windows laptop.

I have installed all available Mac OS 10.6 updates.  I have uninstalled all printers, reset the print queue and reinstalled the printers (I also have an OKI B4100 laser which works fine).  I have downloaded a version of the printer software from the HP website, but it is the same version as the CD and the same problem occurs.

So it seems to me the problem is more likely to be in Mac OS somewhere - it is expecting to find a file or program somewhere in a printers folder that does not exist or exists at a different location, that it needs to set up the print queue.  But I cannot tell what is missing and how to fix it.

Can anyone help?  Thanks in anticipation

you need this:

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=mp-82799-1&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&...=

and these:

1. Download and install Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo :
http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1399

2. Download and install HP Printer Drivers for Mac OS X v10.6 from Apple
http://support.apple.com/kb/DL907

Thanks, it was the updated HP printer drivers from the Apple update website that were missing.  Stupidly I assumed they would be the same as for Mac OS 10.4 / 10.5.

Now everything works perfectly.
