Hi,

For Windows:
1. Search Windows for your printer model name, and click the printer name in the list of results.
 - HP Printer Assistant opens.
2. Click Scan a Document or Photo.
3. Select the shortcut you want to use (Photo to File, Document to File, etc.), and then click Advanced Settings.
4. Click the Destination tab.
5. Click Browse, select the folder you want to use, and then click OK.

Please refer to the "FAQ" section in the link below for MAC or for more information:

Hope this information helps!

Good luck!

Hi there, I understand your concerns. This model is released on market for quite some time. Its a very good printer which you can do all kinds of jobs like scan copy fax photo.

It's easy to do a scan to PC, but you have to install the correct driver.

Here is the link where you can find the driver, I have searched the model name for you:

http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-officejet-pro-8600-plus-e-all-in-one-printer-seri...

After you install the driver, please select Scan from Home screen on printer, then select scan to PC.

Youll find your PC name there after you install the driver.

Hello,

Alternatively, if you do not wish to install driver, you may access the printer's EWS (Embedded Web Server), which has a Webscan functionality that you can use to scan and save document over the network.

To access EWS, your PC and printer needs to be connected to the same network (wired or wireless). On your PC browser, type in the printer's IP address in the URL field, and look for Webscan under Scan tab. After completing the scan, you could save it on your desktop.

Hope this helps!

Could you explain what is not working for the EWS? Are you able to access the EWS Webscan page using the browser?

Hello,

Please try these.

1) Go to 'Control Panel' > 'Hardware and Sound' -> 'Devices and Printers' -> under 'Printers and Faxes'.

2) Please select your printer and right click to the printer's icon. Choose 'Shortcut'.

3) The 'Printer' image will be shortcut on your desktop.

Hope this helps for you.

Thank you.

Please click the “Kudos Thumbs up” on at the bottom button to show Thank you, and “Accept as solution” if this helps you to solve the problem.

Yes, I can get the "printer" image doing this. But.....I use to have an icon that just said "scan" and all I had to do was click on that icon and it began to scan. How do I get that again? Thank you.

After you have installed the full software drivers, please try going to the Windows Start menu -> All Programs->HP, select the correct printer folder, then right-click on "HP Scan", select "Send to" -> "Desktop". Hope this is what you need.
