PSC 1210v out of paper error

Printer still scans but when attempting to print or copy, an error message is received saying add paper. I've tried using different brands of paper to no avail;. cleaned the rollers and performed all the numerous maintenance procedures suggested for this continuing problem; swapped the cartridges with new ones and it still fails to copy or print; uninstalled and reinstalled the software; tried the reset and self-test procedures;  - no change!  I'm all out of ideas and not quite ready to give up on this nice little printer that I've used successfully for several years. Nothing has changed that could have created this problem and it has been performing quite well til now. I'm running Windows XP Home on a self-built computer.

[ Edited ]

Just want to know if On/Resume light is blinking on the printer when printing from pc or making copies.

If yes, during course of action is the printer making noise as if trying to feed the paper.

If yes, It looks like printer is not feeding the paper in.

Please follow these steps:

Solution 1

1)   Turn off the Printer.

2)   Disconnect the USB cable from the printer side.

3)   Remove the paper from the input tray, and then replace any ripped, wrinkled, bent, or curled paper (Use only unused, plain white paper in the product)

4)   Make sure that all the paper is the same size and of the same type. Do not mix paper types

5)   Make sure you load only between 10 and 25 sheets of paper in the input tray. Reduce the amount of paper loaded if necessary

6)   Tap the stack of paper on a flat surface to align the edges of the sheets.

7)   Insert the stack of paper into the product and gently push the paper guides snugly against the paper.

8)   Make sure that the paper is completely inserted into the product unitil the first resistance and that can be picked up by the paper pick rollers.

8)   Turn On the printer.

9)   Try to make a Copy by Pressing  Start  Black  /  Color  to check the functionality.

Below are the link which may help you.

Hope this should help

Re: PSC 1210v out of paper error

I followed your directions and when the copying process started this is what occured: The "On/Resume" and "Black/Start Copy" lights blinked but the paper did not feed and grinding noises could be heard. An error warning appeared on the priinter icon in the lower right corner of the computer screen and conveyed the message that "The printer is out of paper. Load more paper and press the Enter/Resume button on the hp psc." I have previously tried the links you cited and they were of no help. Any other thoughts?

Re: PSC 1210v out of paper error

You can try this option to test the printer.

Solution 1

Just install single cartridge in the printer (black) -  Press and hold cancel button, and then press Start Back button once and release both the buttons

It will print a standalone test page.

Solution 2

If printer is connected to pc, please make sure you disconnect the USB cable from the printer. To try few steps.

Remove the rear access door from the rear of the printer.

when you load stack of paper make sure that there is no moisten on the surface of the paper .

Make sure to pushed the paper inside till end and should be visible when view from rear of printer.

When view from the rear door , make sure that paper pick roller is on the paper.

Press and hold cancel button, and then press Start back button once and release both the buttons.

Ideally the printer will feed the paper in and will come out from the rear door (Since there is no rear access door installed)

During this process if the paper comes from the rear door then there is no problem with the printer (Close the rear access door firmly and press On/Resume button to continue printing)

Solution 3

If paper is not picked, it would not come out from the rear door. It is possible that paper pick roller might be dirty depending on the usage and product life.

If possible try cleaning the paper pick roller. Paper pick rollers can be viewed from input tray or from rear door.

After cleaning is done, Make sure to install rear access door firmly and try printing standalone test.

Press and hold cancel button, and then press Start back button once and release both the buttons.

Hope this should help.
