Thanks! however, i can't find those options anywhere, maybe ill try updating the driver.

Btw, there seems to be another issue, everytime i turn off the printer and/or router the previous IP is no longer used by the printer when i turn it on again. is there any way that i could dedicate the specific IP for my printer so that whenever i turn off any of the two devices i wont have to print another network config page just to view the IP?

thanks!

Let's set a static IP address for the printer:

- Print a Network Config Page from the front of the printer. Note the printer's IP address.
- Type that IP address into a browser to reveal the printer's internal settings.
- Choose the Networking tab, then Wireless along the left side, then the IPv4 tab.
- On this screen you want to set a Manual IP. You need to set an IP address outside the range that the router automatically sets (called the DHCP range). If you do not know the range, change the last set of numbers (those after the last '.') to 250
- Use 255.255.255.0 for the subnet (unless you know it is different, if so, use that)
- Enter your router's IP (on the Network Config Page) for the gateway.
- Enter 8.8.8.8 for the first DNS and 8.8.4.4 for the second DNS. This is Google DNS. You can choose another external DNS if you wish.
- Click 'Apply'.

Now, shut down the router and printer, start the router, wait, then start the printer.

After this you may need to redo 'Add a Printer' using the new IP address.

Your printer is not connected to your router.  What router?

i am not tech savvy at all....how do i hook my 2575 up to a router and is the router the same thing as the modem?  all i know is that when my roommate lived here we were able to have wireless connection with the printer.

thanks for your help and consideration,

Hello irishpack.

If you are receiving 0.0.0.0 for an IP address, then I would suggest power cycling your router. Please restart your computer, then turn off your printer and unplug the power cord from the back of your router for only 60 seconds.

Plug the power cord back into the router after 60 seconds. Wait for your computer to come back on, then turn on your printer.

Please check if your IP address is still stating 0.0.0.0. If you are receiving a different IP address, then open a web browser and follow this step to access The HP Embedded Web Server.

If you would like to know the difference between a modem and a router, then please reference this website here.

Let me know your troubleshooting steps and I will continue to assist you.

I have followed your instructions up to the test print. This instruction is logged in the print queue but does not print.

Thanks for your response, but my printer got jammed and I couldnt get it unjammed.  Even after getting all the paper out (or so I thought) it kept saying it was jammed even after I followed all the online istructions for a jammed machine.

To top it all off, I got a case of butterfingers and dropped the bloody thing.  I am now the proud owner of the Officejet 4630e.

No muss, no fuss, after set up it works just great.

But I really do appreciate your response, thanks for neing there for us!
