Photosmart 5520
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My Photosmart5220 will not "scan to computer".

When I try to it comes up with the following message on my laptop "The HP Photosmart 5520 series was not found"

The printer screen shows an error reading "The computer is not responding. Check the USB cable attached or wireless working properly, then try again,"

It will print fine over the network connection. Have uninstalled and re-installed the most up to date drivers, removed and re-added the printer etc but it makes no difference.

Hello, @thstvfox - Hope you are well 🙂

Thank you for becoming an HP Forum member. It is a great location to get help from the community, get suggestions and find what has worked for others!

Going through your post, I see that you are having issues while scanning using the HP Photosmart printer. I'd suggest using the HP Scan and Capture to scan. Go to http://bit.ly/2oAYXby to download and install the HP Scan and Capture app on your PC.

HP Scan and Capture is a simple and fun application that captures photos or documents from any HP scanning device or your computer's built-in camera.  These images can be previewed, edited, saved, and shared to other applications. Here are the detailed instructions on how to use the app: http://hp.care/2nZfg1K

That should help, let me know the outcome!

Good luck 🙂
