Scanner Unreachable Error...Can access on network and print with no issues though.

Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My printer is wired to my network switch via ethernet cable.  I've restarted the printer and the windows 10 computer.  I can print just fine, I just get this message when I try and use the scanner utility.  Any suggestions?

Laser printers are not my area of expertise.  Forgive any errors.

I can offer some ideas, suggestions and places to look for a solution.

Printer Connection ports

External I/O Ports1 Hi-Speed USB 2.0; 1 Fast Ethernet 10/100Base-TX; 1 Wireless 802.11b/g/n; 1 Host USB

  • Restart the Router on your network - in fact, restart everything.

  • Try using Copy on the printer -- if the printer won't copy, it likely won't scan either.

  • For Wireless > Make sure the router is broadcasting on the 2.4GHz band

  • Make sure Wireless Direct is toggled to OFF (User Guide Page 30)

  • Read the User Guide > Solve wired network problems (starting on Page 120)

  • Consider assigning a static IP address to the printer

HP LaserJet Pro - Configure IP network settings

  • Consider removing and then reinstalling the Full Software:

  • Consider the Firmware Update:

READ all instructions before updating the firmware!!

It wasn’t a network error.  But I ended up figuring it out.  After the recent windows 10 update, the scan utility didn’t work.  I just updated that and now it works like a champ.  Thanks for the input!

Windows Updates can certainly result in having to reinstall / reload some of the bits (programs / software).

Good job tracking down the issue and resolving it.

Happy Printing!
