My ampesand key works in emails but not in documents

I can use the ampersand in emails  -  both in the address and in the body of the email  -  but suddenly it doesn't work in a document.  Nothing happens when I press it.  I have to use ctrl and alt together and then the '2'.

Hello emmer2,

I have not heard of such a thing, but if the ampersand key works in emails, the keyboard key is obviously physically working.

What document program is the key not working in, Microsoft word?

Have you tested Notepad to see if that works also?

If its not working in Microsoft Office, you might ask on the MS Office forums. They may know of a setting that would affect this behaviour better than we will on the HP forum.
