# Output is off (wrong answers)

09-17-2015 06:24 PM

I have input and re-input this equation several times and my answer for F(0) ends up '1' as should but for F(.5) is .606507564884. There was an earlier equation that I input earlier that came up with a different answer than expected. If anyone can tell me what is messing up my answer I would appreciate it.

## Output is off (wrong answers)

Hi, thanks for responding.

The equation is:

F(X)=cos(x)/e^x

My input in RS EQW is "AS F LS ( ) X RA RS = COS X RA ÷ LS eX X ENTER"

And then "Now press LS DEF to define the function. If you look at your variables, (press VAR if necessary), you will see that the left most soft menu label is now F. To evaluate this function for any particular value of X put the value of X in the command line or on level 1 of the stack and 2 press F1-F. For example F(0) = 1 and F(.5) = .532280730215. To see what this function looks like after it has been defined, press RS F1-F. "

The HP equation is "<< → X 'COS(X)/EXP(X)' >> "

When I enter .5 and then F1 it spits out .606507564884.

## Output is off (wrong answers)

The problem you're seeing is caused by your 50g being in the wrong angle mode:

COS(.5)/EXP(.5) = 0.532280730215 in RADIAN mode

COS(.5)/EXP(.5) = 0.606507564884 in DEGREE mode

Hope that helps!
