Stream 7 - Very distinctive hissing sound when using headphones

HP Recommended

Hi all,

I recently got a Stream 7 for Christmas. Reasonably happy with it so far. Obviously it's not got the best sounding speaker system on it but I would have expected sound through the headphones to be very good quality (and my headphones are also good quality)

However, when plugging into the headphone jack for the first time and putting on my headphones, whenever a sound plays, such as a system sound, there is a long hiss that plays behind it, then for a second or two after it, then it stops. If another sound is played, the same happens again. It's less distinctive with music playing as the music is continuous and disguises it a bit, but it can still be heard.

Any ideas what this could be and how to resolve?

Thanks

It's a well known issue unfortunately, see this.  I don't think I have heard of a solution for it yet.

Thanks for the heads up. I did do a forum search but it didn't throw up any results.

Going by that thread, it seems there has been no progress made, which is pretty gutting 😞
