Hello!
I am planning on upgrading my PC which requires me to ditch the original PSU.

Things I already have:

  • 600W 24pin PSU
  • The PC
  • 24pin to 6pin adapter (not working, details below)

Problem:

So I tried to go according to this video which uses the pinout scheme every video on the subject does.

I noticed that my adapter uses a different type of booster, which I suspect is the cause of the whole setup not working, even though it's supposed to be compatible with my PC. The difference is that the booster has a +12V cable connecting to the 24pin connector. This means the two +12V cables from the 6pin connector go to the same slot on the 24pin side.  That of course doesnt work. With this setup when I turn on the new PSU all the fans start running at medium speed and when I try to turn on the PC itself it leaves me with 4 long beeps.

Any type of help and/or advice is heavily appreciated.

Thank you in advance.
