I have recently purchased a new HP Laptop to replace an old Samsung Laptop. With the Samsung I am using a Studio One DAW from Presonus to record music (vocals, guitar).  That laptop has discrete Microphone and Headphone jacks.  I installed the DAW software on the HP and purchased a Microphone/Headphone splitter cable as the HP has a combined Mic/Headphone jack.  When using the same cable from my mixer line output that worked on the Samsung microphone jack, it doesn't work on the HP.  The HP doesn't receive any audio from my mixer.  Yet I can connect my iPhone earbuds to the HP and I can hear myself and record my voice in the DAW.  I even returned the original M/H splitter cable and purchased another one from a different brand and that did not help. When I view Control Panel/Hardware and Sound/Sound/Recording, the Headset Microphone will become enabled with the earbuds, but not with the mixer cable connected.  How can I get the mixer line output cable to work with the HP combined M/H jack?
