ProBook 6540b

I’m experiencing issues on my ProBook 6540b laptop display to the point where it is completely unusable. (I realize this is a Notebook forum, but I couldn’t find any support for Laptops). The display will freeze and slowly “deteriorate” with horizontal lines appearing to block the screen.

This issue isn’t new; there were times in the past where this would happen, but simply turning it off and on or even gently adjusting the screen would solve the problem. However, none of these old fixes work now. It will be foiled right from start up or very shortly after logging in.

I’ve attached pictures to show how the screen deteriorates over a short period of time...

Is my display completely screwed (it’s an old computer, but it was provided to me through work and we do not have an IT department), or is there anything I can do to salvage it?
