Elitebook 840 G5
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have an Elitebook 840 G5 that has suffered damage to the display requiring screen replacement. When I removed the screen i discovered that it has a 40 pin connecter.  I have tried to find a new screen on line, but most of the suppliers I have found cannot supply a 40 pin, only a 30 pin screen and those that can want a price that matches or is higher than the price I paid for the computer. I have counted the motherboard screen pin number on several mb´s (Elite and Zbooks), both with 40 and 30 pin screens and all are 40  pins on the mb´s which leads me to think that if I can replace the mb/screen cable from a 40/40 to a 40/30 pin cable than I could use a 30 pin screen, which is both available and a lot cheaper. The question is: is this a viable option? I know I would have to splice in the camera cable onto the new cable but that is not an insurmountable problem as I have a couple of 40/30 pin cables from my "reserve parts" laptops. If anyone knows where I can obtain an inexpensive UWVA IPS FHD non-touch 40 pin screen to fit the 840 G5er or have any other tips/hints, please let me know.
