Product: HP ENVY x360 13-ar
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello,

 

Device:  HP Envy x360 13-ar0107ng

Drivers: all up to date

Bios: latest (F.19 Rev.A)

Windows: 10 (2004)

 

Problems:

  1. While sleep/hibernate the device wakes itself, causing overheat (meassured 85°C) as the fan remains off
  2. On shutdown, the fan remains active forever and can only be stopped by holding the power button for few seconds

 

Sleep/Hibernate:

I`ve tried a lot of "solutions" on the internet to get rid of it, here are my insights:

Sleep and Hibernate is instantly cancelled when e.g. Mouse is clicked: My guess is that e.g. Tilt Pen, Touchscreen or a connected mouse wakes up the device, while the fan remains off. It happened to me several times and it went very, very hot.

So I put it on sleep: Windows -> Power -> Sleep.

Move the mouse a bit and it wakes up again.

 

First I tried to get some info which device woke the laptop with:

"powercfg -lastwake" -> Wake History Count - 0

 

No entry? Ok, why did you just woke up?

Next I`ve checked the system log. Also no entry.

 

Okay, which devices "could" propably woke you up?

"powercfg -devicequery wake_armed" -> None

Yeah, totaly makes sense.

 

I`ve read about this problem for this device all over the internet. And after several month there is still no BIOS update to solve the power management issues. It's hard to get in touch with HPs technical support so my hope is that a support agent can forward and address this issue?

I like the Envy, but after all my experience with HP (driver) support it will be my last HP device ever.
