HP Recommended

After power up attempt the screen is black with all LEDs working the caps-lock and num-lock lights blink 5 times.

 

The diagnostics indicate that this is likely to be a system board (motherboard) failure.

The Bill of Materials file corresponding to the LapTop  S/N list 3 variants:

  1. 613397-001 SPS-BD SYS AMD UMA
  2. 616789-001 SPS-BD SYS AMD UMA (CHINA)
  3. 616787-001 SPS-BD SYS AMD UMA (RUSSIA/CHINA)

I live in Norway  so I assume (correctly or otherwise) that #1 must be the variant installed my machine.

I have now removed the motherboard from the machine  for identification - please see picture. I do not know enough as to the relevance of the table in the picture.

 

The main ID on the board is the MPN :6050A2356601MBA02 - none of the variants codes are listed anywhere on this board.

 

The main problem

This motherboard is no longer in production or in stock anywhere in HP so I must resort to the used parts market.

Entering 6050A2356601MBA02 a search field in ebay will yield the #1 variant and many others. 

Questions

  1. I assume that I still need to focus only on the 613397-001 variant. Is this correct?
  2. have seen some  613397-001 variants for sale but the information in the table can be different. What does this mean?
