I turned on my HP laptop today. HP Support app on my taskbar showed an update was available. (Windows 11 H) I launched the app and downloaded and installed the BIOS update. (I followed the instructions on screen.) The laptop updated the bios and login screen appeared. I use a 6 digit PIN to login. Thiis is the message on screen:
Something happened. Your PIN isn't available.Click to setup your PIN again.
Setup pin
Sign-in options
Setup pin option is unresponsive when I click it.
Sign-in option gives me 2 options (icons) when I click it. A key (PW) icon and numbers(or dots?) icon. Only the first one is responsive and wants me to enter password. I enter the password (the one I used for initial setup, my msn email password).it says incorrect. After several attempts, laptop gives me an option to change password. I am required to insert a thumb drive with password recovery. I never considered creating it!!! So ,there is nothing to read when I attach one. I never heard of such recovery method.
Basically, the blue screen is on. I rebooted several times. No change. BIOS update erased the PIN or can not find it.
What do I do?
Thanks.
