There's already a post about this by Masoksian, dated 4-23-2025.  HP has locked the topic "It has been a while since anyone has replied."

Are Masoksian and I the only people this bug affects?  I tried the group policy update that Masoksian suggests, but I don't think I specified the driver correctly.  It seems to want numbers and I only had the name.  I also tried the HP generic scan driver Full_Webpack-63.6.6354-SJ0001_Full_Webpack, but it would not detect that the USB cable was even attached.  I could however see from the operator panel on the unit and from Device Manager, that Windows found the USB cable.

My company bought a flatbed scanner.  "HP Recommends the sheetfed scanner SJ2000".  Well, we have 2 of HP's Scanjet 5000 sheetfed scanners, but we need a flatbed.  Must we look elsewhere?
