These motherboards should not be treated as interchangeable. The processor is part of the system-board assembly, and the M12542-601 also has a dedicated Nvidia GPU. You should match the replacement to your original hardware configuration rather than selecting a board based solely on the laptop's model name.

Could you please provide the following information?

1. Your original processor: Was it an Intel Core i3, i5 or i7? The full processor model would be even better.

2. Your original graphics configuration: Did your laptop have only Intel integrated graphics, or did it also have an Nvidia GeForce MX350?

3. Your HP product number: This is available on the label on the bottom of the laptop, the original packaging, or sometimes in HP Support Assistant. The product number helps identify your specific factory configuration.
