Hi @sdw983,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

If your HP 8020 Pro Series printer is not scanning but prints without any issues, there could be several potential causes and solutions to address this problem. Here is a step-by-step guide to help you troubleshoot the issue:

Ensure Proper Connection:

  • Verify that the printer and computer are properly connected. If using a USB connection, confirm that the cable is securely attached on both ends. If connected wirelessly, ensure both devices are on the same network.

Install the Latest HP Drivers:

  • Make sure the latest drivers for your printer are installed on your computer. You can download the latest HP drivers from the Official HP® Support.

Check the HP Printer Software:

  • Open the HP Printer Assistant on your computer and navigate to the 'Scan' section. Follow any prompts to set up a scan.
  • Ensure that the scanning software is correctly configured.

Firewall and Antivirus Check:

  • Ensure that your firewall or antivirus software is not blocking the scanner. You may need to add exceptions for the HP software.

Restart Devices:

  • Power off both the printer and the computer, wait for about 30 seconds, and then restart them. Sometimes, a simple restart resolves connectivity issues.

Windows Image Acquisition Service:

  • Ensure the Windows Image Acquisition service is running on your computer as this service is crucial for scanner operations.

Test with Another Software:

  • Try scanning with another application like the Windows Fax and Scan App or another third-party app to rule out software-specific issues.

    I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
