i have a USB live boot for the newest kali linux version i want to test it before fully installing it as a main OS

used 2 USB and on both of them used Rufus and Ventoy to create the live-boot system and used 2 versions of kali 2022 and the newest one
the 2022 booted normally but there are no drivers for mouse-pad sound touchscreen or WiFi so it is unusable
then i used the newest version it give me the error ACPI AE_NOT_FOUNDphoto_2025-10-24_20-18-09.jpg

then i updated to newest bios f0.7 to f0.8 same problem
then i edited /boot/grub and added ACPI=off when it reached the point of that error nothing displayed the text are gone but it stuck on black screen but the display is still lit
tried all the options in grub menu same problem
tried using legacy and UEFI
turn of secure boot
change MBT to gpt in rufus
it gave me the same error ACPI AE_NOT_FOUND

Hi @CyberBow,

Thank you for sharing your model details!

Let’s try a few quick steps to fix the ACPI AE_NOT_FOUND error when booting Kali Linux:

Edit Boot Options

When the GRUB menu appears, highlight Live system.

Press E on your keyboard.

Find the line that starts with linux.

At the end of that line, type:

acpi_osi=! acpi_osi="Windows 2020"

Press F10 to boot.

Reset BIOS Settings

Turn off the laptop.

Power it on and press Esc → then F10 to enter BIOS.

Press F9 to load BIOS defaults.

Press F10 to save and exit.

Try a Different Version

If the latest Kali still fails, try Kali 2023.4, it often works better on newer HP systems.

I hope this helps.

Will I have an update on the problem?

I tried what you suggested, but it didn’t work. Using acpi_osi=! or acpi_osi="Windows 2020" had no effect. If I type acpi_osi=!, it doesn't show the error message, but it still gets stuck at the same point.

I tried Parrot OS, and it boots normally, but at some point during boot, it shows the same error as in the image. However, it continues to boot normally, so the problem might not be related to the ACPI AE_NOT_FOUND error; it's likely something that happens after that step.

I also tried an older version of Kali, which boots, but with no drivers, no touch-pad, no mouse, and no wireless card, so I can't really do anything with it.
