Hi @Jose2052,

Thank you for the response.

The inability to use ASCII codes with the "Alt" function on your HP Envy x360 can be due to a few common reasons. Here are some steps to troubleshoot this issue:

Check Num Lock Status

  1. Enable Num Lock:
    • Ensure that the Num Lock is enabled on your keyboard. The Numeric Keypad section needs to be active to use Alt codes.

Verify Keyboard Configuration

Check Keyboard Layout:

  • Make sure your keyboard layout is set to English (United States) as some other layouts may not support ASCII codes.

Using the Numeric Keypad:

  • Ensure you are using the numeric keypad on the right side of the keyboard (or the virtual numeric keypad if using a compact layout) rather than the numbers at the top.

System Settings

Keyboard Driver Update:

  • Check if your keyboard drivers are updated. Go to the Device Manager, find your keyboard, and make sure you have the latest drivers.

Ease of Access:

  • Go to Settings > Ease of Access > Keyboard and make sure that "Use numeric keypad to move mouse around the screen" is turned off.

Alternative Methods:

  • Use the Character Map utility in Windows to find and copy special characters.

On-screen Keyboard:

  • Use the On-screen keyboard with Num Lock on for ASCII input if the physical Num Pad is not functioning.

I hope this helps.
