Fixing “Boot Device Not Found (3F0)” on HP ProOne 600 G2
Follow these steps in order:
1. Restore BIOS default settings
- Turn off the ProOne 600 G2 and wait 5 seconds.
- Turn it on, and immediately press F10 repeatedly to open BIOS Setup.
- In BIOS, press F9 to load Setup Defaults.
- Press F10 to Save and Exit.
- Use the arrow keys to select Yes, then press Enter when asked Exit Saving Changes?
- Let the PC restart and check if Windows boots.

2. Run HP Hardware Diagnostics – Hard Drive Test
If the error remains:
- Hold the power button for at least 5 seconds to turn off the PC.
- Turn it on and immediately press Esc repeatedly (about once per second).
- When the Startup Menu appears, press F2 for HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI.
- On the main menu, select Symptom Tests.
- Choose Hard disk/SSD drive issue, then press Enter.
- If there are multiple drives, select the one with Windows or Test All Hard Drives.
- Let the Quick Test run.
- If it still seems bad, run the Extensive Test from Hard Drive Tests (SMART Check, Short DST, Optimized DST, Long DST).
- If a test fails, select Troubleshoot and follow the on‑screen steps.
- If not resolved, choose Yes to contact HP Support and write down the Failure ID and Product ID, or take a photo/scan the QR code.
3. Update the BIOS (if the drive passes tests)
If the hard drive passes all tests but the error persists, update the BIOS using the appropriate HP BIOS update guide for your HP business/consumer desktop or notebook (install only from HP and follow the model‑specific instructions).
4. Reinstall Windows (if drive is detected but not bootable)
If diagnostics see the drive but Windows still won’t load:
- Back up any important data if possible.
- Use Windows Recovery (F11) to reset the PC or
- Use the HP Cloud Recovery Tool/Client to reinstall Windows on the drive.
- After reinstall, run Windows Update to install all updates, firmware, and drivers.
If no drives are found during reinstall, follow HP guidance for “No drives can be found during Windows installation.”
5. Contact HP Support
If:
- The diagnostics do not detect any hard drive, or
- All steps above are completed and the 3F0 error persists,
You need to replace the disk drive.
Let me know if the disk drive passes the diagnostics!
