Hi @BB7777,

Could you please share the exact model name of your HP laptop? You can usually find it on a label underneath the device or by checking your HP Support Assistant (if accessible). It’ll look something like HP Pavilion 15-eg2009ne or HP Envy x360 13-ay1035AU.

Some troubleshooting steps are model-specific, and performing the wrong ones could potentially cause more harm or even brick the device, so I want to make sure we get it exactly right before moving forward.

Looking forward to your reply so we can get your laptop back up and running!

Best regards,

Kuroi_Kenshi

Hi @BB7777,

Thank you for the response.

Try these steps:

Check Boot Order in BIOS Settings:

  • Restart your laptop and press the appropriate key (usually F10, Esc, or F2) to enter the BIOS Setup Utility.
  • Navigate to the "Boot" or "Boot Order" section.
  • Ensure that the hard drive where your operating system is installed is at the top of the boot priority list.
  • Save changes and exit the BIOS.

Run HP Hardware Diagnostics:

  • Restart your laptop and press F2 or Esc immediately to enter the HP Hardware Diagnostics tool.
  • Select the "System Diagnostics" option and run a quick or extensive hard drive test.
  • Follow any instructions provided if an error is detected.

Check the Hard Drive Connection:

  • If you're comfortable, shut down your laptop and disconnect any power source.
  • Remove the back cover of your laptop and check if the hard drive is securely connected.
  • Reconnect any loose cables and reassemble your laptop.

Perform a Hard Reset:

  • Power off your laptop and disconnect the AC adapter.
  • Remove the battery (if applicable).
  • Press and hold the Power button for 15 seconds.
  • Reconnect the AC adapter (and battery), then power on your laptop.

Use HP Recovery Tools:

  • Restart your laptop and press F11 repeatedly to enter HP Recovery Manager.
  • Follow the prompts to repair your system or perform a system restore to return to a previous state where it was functioning correctly.

Reinstall the Operating System:

  • If your laptop continues to show the "Boot Device Not Found" error, you may need to reinstall the operating system using a recovery USB drive or installation media.
  • Ensure you backup any important data before proceeding with this step.

I hope this helps.
