HP 15.6 inch Laptop PC 15-fd0000 (70R05AV)

My laptop is new, I bought it two months ago. For the past week, a blue screen keeps appearing with the stop code: DRIVER VERIFIER DMA VIOLATION, and the computer shuts down every 10 minutes.

@Sephora15, Hello and welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your question. I'm here to help you get things back on track.

I'm sorry to hear you're experiencing repeated Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) errors with the stop code DRIVER VERIFIER DMA VIOLATION on your HP 15.6 inch Laptop PC 15-fd0000 (70R05AV). This issue is typically caused by faulty or outdated drivers, especially those related to Direct Memory Access (DMA) like storage or USB drivers.

Let’s walk through the steps to resolve this:

Update BIOS and Drivers

Outdated drivers are the most common cause of this BSOD.

  1. Visit the official HP Software and Driver Downloads page.
  2. Enter your product name.
  3. Download and install the latest:
    • BIOS update
    • Chipset drivers
    • Intel Rapid Storage Technology drivers
    • Graphics and USB drivers

Tip: Use HP Support Assistant to automatically detect and install updates. HP Support Assistant | HP® Support

Disable Driver Verifier

If Driver Verifier is enabled, it can trigger BSODs when it detects driver issues.

  1. Press Windows + R, type verifier, and press Enter.
  2. Select Delete existing settings, then click Finish.
  3. Restart your PC.

Run HP Hardware Diagnostics

Check for hardware issues:

  1. Turn off your laptop.
  2. Turn it on and repeatedly press Esc, then press F2 for System Diagnostics.
  3. Run the Extensive Test for memory and storage.

Check for Windows Updates

  1. Go to Settings > Windows Update.
  2. Install all available updates, including optional driver updates.

Perform a Clean Boot

This helps identify if a third-party service or driver is causing the issue.

  1. Press Windows + R, type msconfig, and press Enter.
  2. Under the Services tab, check Hide all Microsoft services, then click Disable all.
  3. Go to the Startup tab and open Task Manager.
  4. Disable all startup items.
  5. Restart your PC.

I hope the information shared has been useful and resolves your concern.

Wishing you a smooth and hassle-free experience ahead!

Hi, i've got the same issue; also around the same date; I tried a lot

updating the bios

disabling secure boot

reinstalling windows 11 (not from the recovery partition but a fresh iso from microsoft)

i've bitlocker disabled and also disabled tpm

updated all the drivers (with the HP assistant) >> (i'm up to date now )

driver verifier (verified) says all drivers are signed and designed for win11

but still the problem exists;

sometimes it takes 1 hour before the violation; sometimes 5 minutes after a reboot

there is nothing attached to the USB ports

in the windows event log there is nothing that points me in any direction.

perhaps it has anything to do with a driver which was updated around 20 June (because 3 people are posting about this problem with the same laptop on this forum)

I have been dealing with the same issue, very frustrating as my laptop is less than a year old and has been doing this for weeks. I can go anywhere from 1 -20 minutes and then I get the Blue Screen of Death (DRIVER VERIFIER DMA VIOLATION)
