HP Pavilion Plus 14 inch Laptop PC 14-ew0000 (7X843AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

My built-in webcam on my laptop stopped working recently! I've been trying to troubleshoot, but I was on the Device Manager page and I accidentally deleted my webcam software from my computer. I have no idea how to reinstall this webcam software. I have thoroughly gone through every support page I can find, and none of them give me answers, even the HP PCs - Troubleshoot the webcam (Windows 11 and Windows 10) | HP® Support.  page. Please help!

Hi @TJpickles1

If you've accidentally uninstalled the webcam software for your HP Pavilion Plus 14-inch Laptop, you can follow these steps to reinstall the necessary drivers and reinstall the webcam functionality:

Steps to Reinstall Webcam Software

1. Reinstall Using Device Manager

  • Scan for Hardware Changes:

    1. Open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start button and selecting Device Manager.
    2. At the top of the Device Manager window, click on Action > Scan for hardware changes.
    3. This should detect your webcam and prompt Windows to reinstall the default drivers automatically.
  • Update Driver:

    1. Once the device appears under Cameras or Imaging Devices, right-click on the webcam name.
    2. Select Update driver and choose Search automatically for updated driver software. Windows will find the best driver available for your device and install it.

2. Visit HP Support for Driver Download:

  • Download Drivers:
    1. Go to the HP Support website.
    2. Enter your product number or model (HP Pavilion Plus 14 inch Laptop 14-ew0000) into the search bar.
    3. Navigate to the Drivers & Software section.
    4. Find and download the latest camera drivers listed for your laptop model.
    5. Install the downloaded software following the on-screen instructions.

3. Windows Update:

  • Check for Updates:
    1. Open Settings from the Start menu.
    2. Navigate to Update & Security > Windows Update, then click Check for updates. Windows might automatically find and install webcam drivers.

4. HP Support Assistant:

  • Use HP Support Assistant:
    1. Open HP Support Assistant. If it's not installed, download it from the HP website.
    2. Use it to run a check on system updates and driver installations, which can include the webcam driver.

5. Restart the Laptop:

  • After reinstalling the drivers, restart your laptop to ensure all changes take effect.
