@Frisby1, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you're having trouble with desktop shortcuts not fitting on your screen and noticing that the HP logo appears stretched or oblong. This usually points to a screen resolution or display scaling issue. Let's walk through a few steps to fix this:

Step 1: Adjust Screen Resolution

  1. Right-click on an empty area of your desktop.
  2. Select Display settings.
  3. Scroll down to Display resolution.
  4. Set it to the Recommended resolution (usually the native resolution of your monitor).
  5. Click Keep changes if the screen looks correct.

If the HP logo appears stretched, it's likely the resolution is set too low or not at the monitor's native aspect ratio.

Step 2: Check Display Scaling

  1. In the same Display settings window, look for Scale and layout.
  2. Set Scale to 100% or 125% (whichever fits your screen best).
  3. Log out and log back in if prompted.

Step 3: Update Graphics Drivers

  1. Press Windows + X and select Device Manager.
  2. Expand Display adapters.
  3. Right-click your graphics card and select Update driver.
  4. Choose Search automatically for drivers.

Alternatively, you can download the latest drivers from the HP Support website.

Step 4: Auto-Adjust Monitor (if using external monitor)

If you're using an external monitor:

  • Use the Auto or Menu button on the monitor to auto-adjust the display.
  • Make sure the monitor's aspect ratio is set to 16:9 (or native ratio).

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
