HP Pavilion x360 - 14-dh1178tu
Microsoft Windows 11

I recently upgraded my HP Pavilion x360 Convertible (Model: 14-dh1178TU) from Windows 10 to Windows 11. After the upgrade, some drivers, including those for the keyboard, touchpad, and camera, stopped working. When I contacted customer support, they mentioned it was a driver-related issue. I need assistance in resolving this so my laptop functions smoothly again.

Hi @RS-5_7,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand how frustrating it can be when core functions like the keyboard, touchpad, and camera stop working after a Windows upgrade. Since HP officially supports Windows 11 for the HP Pavilion x360 series, let's try some steps to resolve the driver issues.

Step 1: Run Windows Update & Check Optional Updates

  1. Go to Settings → Windows Update → Check for updates
  2. After installing all available updates, go to Advanced options > Optional updates
  3. Look for driver updates related to the keyboard, touchpad, and camera, then install them.
  4. Restart your laptop and check if the issue persists.

Step 2: Use HP Support Assistant to Install Missing Drivers

  1. Download and install HP Support Assistant (if not already installed).
  2. Open the app and go to Updates → Check for Updates and Messages
  3. Install any driver updates listed.
  4. Restart the laptop and test the devices.

Step 3: Manually Reinstall the Drivers

If the issue persists, try reinstalling the drivers manually:

Keyboard & Touchpad Driver

  1. Right-click the Start menu → Select Device Manager
  2. Expand Keyboards and Mice and other pointing devices
  3. Right-click on each device → Select Uninstall device
  4. Restart your laptop to allow Windows to reinstall the drivers automatically.

Camera Driver

  1. In Device Manager, expand Imaging Devices or Cameras
  2. Right-click on the camera device and select Uninstall device
  3. Restart your laptop and check if the camera works.

If the drivers are still missing, go to the HP Support Website → Enter your laptop’s model number → Download and install the latest drivers manually.

Step 4: Roll Back to Previous Drivers

If newer drivers are causing the issue:

  1. Open Device Manager → Right-click the problematic device
  2. Click Properties → Driver tab → Select Roll Back Driver (if available)
  3. Restart your laptop and check if the issue is resolved.

Step 5: Reset Windows (If Nothing Works)

If none of the above solutions work, consider resetting Windows while keeping your files:

  1. Go to Settings → System → Recovery
  2. Select Reset this PC → Keep my files
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions and allow Windows to reinstall a fresh copy with default drivers.

Note: While selecting "Keep my files" should retain personal data, some apps and settings may be removed. It's always recommended to back up important files before proceeding to avoid potential data loss.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Thanks for sharing the solutions. I have tried everything you mentioned but nothing works. I spoke to hp service centre nearby but they were saying to ask about any patches available to community centre to sort out this issue. If any patches available for this kindly let me know where will I get it from?
