Hi @cmicliz,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
The Error 301 – SSD Short DST Check Failed means your laptop’s solid-state drive (SSD) has failed a diagnostic test during startup. Even though the system may still boot and run for now, this is a strong indicator of impending SSD failure.
What You Should Do Now
1. Back Up Immediately
Your SSD may stop working without warning. Please back up all important files to:
- An external hard drive
- Cloud storage (OneDrive, Google Drive, etc.)
2. Run HP UEFI Diagnostics Again
To confirm the error:
- Restart your laptop and press Esc repeatedly → then F2 for diagnostics.
- Run the Storage > Short DST and Long DST tests.
3. Check Warranty Status
If your laptop is under warranty, HP may replace the SSD for free: 👉 Official HP® Warranty Check - United States | HP® Support
4. Replace the SSD
If out of warranty, consider replacing the SSD:
Use a compatible M.2 SATA or NVMe SSD (depending on your laptop model).
I hope this helps.
Take care and have an amazing day!
