Hi @hmartins78, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
This error message indicates an assertion failure in a Vulkan-related component. Specifically, it's failing in VulcanMessageLib.node, which suggests that a Vulkan-based application or library is encountering an issue.
Please follow these steps,
Update Graphics Drivers
- If you have an NVIDIA or AMD GPU:
- Download and install the latest drivers from the official website:
- During installation, select "Clean Install" (for NVIDIA) or "Factory Reset" (for AMD).
Install or Repair Vulkan Runtime
- Download the latest Vulkan Runtime from your GPU vendor’s website.
- If you already have it installed, try reinstalling it.
Install/Repair Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables
- Download and install the latest Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables from Microsoft’s official site.
- If already installed, go to Control Panel → Programs → Apps & Features, find Microsoft Visual C++, select it, and click Repair.
Check for Conflicting Software
- If you recently installed a new program, try uninstalling it.
- Some node.js applications (like node-vulcanjs) might be involved. Try reinstalling or updating them.
Disable Vulkan for the Problematic Software
- If you know which software is using Vulkan, check its settings for an option to disable Vulkan and use a different rendering method (like OpenGL or DirectX).
Reinstall the Problematic Software
- If the error appears after starting a specific application, uninstall and reinstall that software.
Run Windows System Checks
- Open Command Prompt as Administrator and run: sfc /scannow
- This will check and repair corrupted system files.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

Thank you for your detailed possible solution.
Meanwhile I managed to fix the error message by just reinstalling the Adobe Creative Cloud. It may have not fixed the problem completely but at least the error message has gone and the PC seams to be working fine.
I hope this helps other people with a similar problem.
Thank you.

Hey @hmartins78, That's great to hear! 🎉 Reinstalling Adobe Creative Cloud likely replaced or repaired a component that was causing the Vulkan assertion failure. Many Adobe apps use GPU acceleration, which might explain why the issue was linked to it.
If the problem resurfaces, you might still want to check:
- Adobe GPU settings → Disable/Enable Hardware Acceleration in Adobe apps.
- Windows Event Viewer (eventvwr.msc) → Look for Vulkan-related errors.
- Vulkan drivers → A clean install may prevent future issues.
Thanks for sharing your fix—it could help others facing the same problem! Let me know if you need any further help. 🚀
