HP Pavilion 14 Laptop PC 14-dv2000 (4Z018AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

Hi,

I am unable to set face lock or Fingerprint locks in security features. The day before yesterday till the reset I had kept a fingerprint lock, after the service center advice i reset the PC but now i am unable to set lock either fingerprint or Face lock. The PC is just 4 months old. No proper response i got from the service center after this.

Hi @MOHANPP85,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I'm sorry you're having trouble setting up the fingerprint lock on your HP Pavilion 14 Laptop PC 14-dv2000 with Windows 11. Here are some steps you can follow to resolve this issue:

1. Check Device Manager:

  • Open Device Manager (Press Win + X and select Device Manager).
  • Expand the Biometric Devices section and ensure the fingerprint sensor is listed and enabled. If there's a yellow warning icon, right-click and select Update driver

2. Update Windows:

  • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and check for any pending updates. Install them and restart your laptop

3. Update Fingerprint Driver:

  • Visit the HP Support website and download the latest fingerprint driver for your model
  • Install the driver and restart your laptop

4. Set Up Fingerprint in Windows Hello:

  • Go to Settings > Accounts > Sign-in options.
  • Under Fingerprint recognition (Windows Hello), click Set up and follow the on-screen instructions

5. Run HP Support Assistant:

  • Open HP Support Assistant (if not installed, download it from the HP website).
  • Use it to check for updates and troubleshoot hardware issues.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
