Microsoft Windows 11

HP Z2 Tower G9 Workstation (8T2A6EA) (Less than a week old and top HDMI has never worked)

Top HDMI socket not working. Second (Bottom) does.

Tried 3 different cables - Cables and adapters - three different monitors (Just bought a new one!)

I need twin monitors to work.

Tried attaching both monitors (Dell) and windows will not find the 'second' monitor i.e. the one attached to the top HDMI port.

Welcome to HP Support Community, @RudeFatDog

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If the top HDMI port on your HP Z2 Tower G9 Workstation is not functioning, please try the following troubleshooting steps:

1. Verify the Connection
Make sure the HDMI cable is firmly connected to both the workstation and the monitor. If available, try using another high-quality HDMI cable.

2. Check the Monitor Input
Confirm that the monitor is powered on and set to the correct input source (HDMI).

3. Adjust Display Settings
Right-click on your Windows desktop and select Display Settings.
Under Multiple Displays, ensure the option is set to Extend these displays or Duplicate these displays.

4. Update Graphics Drivers
Visit the HP Support website, download the latest graphics drivers for your workstation, install them, and then restart the system.

5. Update BIOS and Firmware
Check for any available BIOS or firmware updates for the HP Z2 Tower G9 and install them if required.

6. Check BIOS Configuration
Restart the computer and enter the BIOS setup.
Verify that settings related to integrated graphics and multi-monitor support are enabled.

7. Perform Hardware Testing
• Test the HDMI cable and monitor on another device to confirm they are working.
• If your monitor supports other ports (such as DisplayPort), test using those to isolate the issue.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
