I have continuing problems with the notifications in the HP Support Assistant.  I have had several chats with so called HP experts on the subject.  None have helped.  the problem that persists is that I have notifications that remain about uploads to software that have been done...and I do not want to perform a battery calibration but the health notification remains and I cannot get rid of it.  I have two identical HP laptops PC 15-fd0000 and yet one of them has this issue.  If I go to notifications, select updates, there are two updates that remain there and when I select them to open, the do not provide an UPLOAD button.  So I have gone to the HP website and downloaded them from there, but they do not appear as a result in my history.  Bottom line I want to get rid of these  notifications as I do not need them as described.

I wanted to add before anyone replies that I have 'repaired' and uninstalled and re-installed the HP Assistant, rebooted my machine and signed back in to HP....it has not solved this ongoing problem with what is a brand new laptop.  As mentioned, I have  an identical laptop purchased at the same time and it has never experienced these issues with HP support Assistant whilst HP 'experts' through chats have frankly, been useless.

Hi @Steve1216

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I understand how frustrating it feels to see those notifications stuck even after you’ve already repaired, reinstalled, rebooted, and even downloaded updates manually. You’ve clearly put in a lot of effort, and I appreciate the thorough steps you’ve taken.

Let’s focus on clearing those persistent notifications so your HP Support Assistant feels fresh and responsive again.

Step 1: Clear HP Support Assistant Cache

  1. Close HP Support Assistant completely.
  2. Press Win + R, type %ProgramData%\Hewlett-Packard\HP Support Framework, and press Enter.
  3. Locate the “Cache” folder and delete its contents.
  4. Restart your PC and open HP Support Assistant again to check if the notifications are gone.

Step 2: Reset HP Support Assistant Settings

  1. Open HP Support Assistant.
  2. Go to Settings (gear icon in the top right).
  3. Disable notifications temporarily, close the app, then reopen and re‑enable notifications.
  4. This refresh often clears stuck alerts.

Step 3: Run HP Support Assistant Update Check

  1. Open HP Support Assistant.
  2. Select Updates and click Check for updates and messages.
  3. Allow the scan to complete. If updates appear, install them directly through the app.
  4. If no “Install” button appears, the cache reset from Step 1 usually resolves this.

Step 4: Battery Health Notification

  • If you do not want to perform calibration, you can dismiss the battery health notification by:
    1. Opening HP Support Assistant.
    2. Navigating to My Devices > Battery.
    3. Select Dismiss or Ignore for the calibration reminder.
  • This prevents the alert from reappearing without forcing calibration.

By clearing the cache and refreshing settings, those lingering notifications should finally disappear. Since you’ve already compared with your other identical laptop, this process will help align the behavior of both systems.

Re the solution for getting rid of the cache....this is the same solution so to speak that an HP "expert' suggested and it doesn't work.  WHY?  When typing in %ProgramData%\Hewlett-Packard\HP Support Framework the folder or file named CACHE does not appear.  Rather I see only DATA, HP Device Check, HPWPD.

As for the solution to get rid of notification by going to settings etc...first of all the gear setting icon is on the bottom left vertical panel.  I did uncheck updates and did as you said, but nothing changed.  There remains the same stuck notification.  Since I first wrote this message (and thank you for your response) 2 notifications about updates have magically disappeared.  The only stuck one relates to battery.  Interesting enough when you select and drop down what notifications you want, the box for HEALTH updates/notifications is not checked yet in the health notification that is stuck, is the very one related to battery calibration.  Once again, I have two identical laptops and only on one of them does this notification appear and has been there for days and days now.  I simply do not want to calibrate the battery on a brand new machine and yet get rid of this nuisance health notification

As for "Navigating to My Devices > Battery etc, there is no such MY DEVICES in my HP Assistant that I can find in order to do as you said.

I even used the AI tool on my HP laptop and it too wasted my time going through a series of misadventures and finally it indicated the stuck battery calibration/health notification is a known bug in the HP Support Assistant.  I have no idea as HP never owns up to that.  There just has to be a way.  To be honest and I am sure I speak for many, that tech is nothing short of being a huge headache that one cannot rely on; there are a litanny of problems and even the makers of the software or hardware have no idea and of course never tell you like say an automaker, that there s/b a recall!!!

I understand how frustrating it must be to have a brand‑new laptop constantly showing a stuck battery calibration notification, especially after you’ve already repaired, reinstalled, and compared with another identical system that doesn’t have the issue.

You’ve put in a lot of effort, and it’s clear you want a clean, distraction‑free HP Support Assistant experience. Let’s go through a structured set of steps that can help clear this persistent alert.

Step 1: Remove HP Support Assistant Data Files

Since you didn’t find a “Cache” folder, let’s clear the data files that hold notification history.

  1. Close HP Support Assistant completely.
  2. Press Windows + R, type %ProgramData%\Hewlett-Packard\HP Support Framework, and press Enter.
  3. Delete the folders named DATA and HPWPD.
  4. Restart your PC and open HP Support Assistant again.
    • This forces the app to rebuild its notification database.

Step 2: Disable Health Notifications

  1. Open HP Support Assistant.
  2. Click the gear icon (Settings) in the left panel.
  3. Under Notifications, uncheck Health.
  4. Close the app, restart your PC, then reopen HP Support Assistant.
    • This refresh often clears stuck health alerts.

Step 3: Re‑register the Device in HP Support Assistant

  1. Open HP Support Assistant.
  2. Go to My Devices.
  3. Remove the current laptop entry.
  4. Add the device again by selecting Add Device and entering the product number/serial number.
    • This resets the device profile and clears associated notifications.

Step 4: Update HP Support Assistant Framework

  1. Visit HP Support Assistant Download Page.
  2. Download and install the latest version of HP Support Assistant and HP Support Framework.
  3. Restart your PC after installation.
    • A fresh framework often resolves stuck alerts.

Step 5: Battery Health Notification Workaround

If the battery calibration alert still appears:

  1. Open HP Support Assistant.
  2. Navigate to Device Health.
  3. Select Ignore or Dismiss for the calibration reminder.
    • This prevents the alert from reappearing without forcing calibration.

By clearing the data files, refreshing notifications, and re‑registering the device, you should be able to remove the stuck battery calibration alert. Since your other identical laptop doesn’t show this issue, these steps will help align the behavior of both systems.

Would you like me to guide you through deleting the DATA and HPWPD folders step by step, since that’s the most direct way to reset the notification history?
