@TheFunGuy, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you're seeing a "cartridges not communicating correctly" error on your HP ENVY Photo 6255 printer. Let's walk through some steps to resolve this issue.

Check Cartridge Compatibility

Ensure you're using the correct cartridges for your printer. The HP ENVY Photo 6255 uses HP 64 or HP 64XL cartridges. If you're using non-HP or refilled cartridges, they may not be recognized.  Which cartridges work with my HP printer? | HP® Support

Reset the Printer

A simple reset can often clear communication errors:

  • Turn the printer on.
  • Disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer and from the wall outlet.
  • Wait 60 seconds.
  • Reconnect the power cord and turn the printer back on.

Reinstall the Cartridges

  • Open the cartridge access door.
  • Remove both cartridges.
  • Gently wipe the copper-colored contacts with a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with distilled water.
  • Reinsert the cartridges and ensure they click into place.

Update Printer Firmware

Outdated firmware can cause cartridge recognition issues. Official HP® Support

Use HP Smart App (iOS)

Since you're using iOS, try the HP Smart app to check for errors and run diagnostics:

  • Download or open the HP Smart app. HP Smart
  • Add your printer and go to Printer Status.
  • Run the Diagnose & Fix tool.

Try a Different Cartridge (if available)

If possible, try a different genuine HP cartridge to rule out a faulty one.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
