Trying to connect my Oticon connect clip to my HP Laptop blue tooth. It isn't working. Suggestions are to see if it has Bluetooth Low Energy, (BLE), I know it has Bluetooth, just not if it's low energy. I used the Bluetooth before with Phonak Hearing aids. Can't seem to connect with my new Oticon hearing aids?

@bella136, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The HP Chromebook 14a-ne0013dx (6X6Z1UA) does have Bluetooth 5.0, which does support Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE). So hardware-wise, your Chromebook should be compatible with devices that use BLE, including the Oticon ConnectClip.
However, Chromebook support for advanced Bluetooth audio features (like those used by hearing aids and accessories such as the ConnectClip) can be limited or inconsistent due to:
- Driver or protocol limitations in ChromeOS.
- ConnectClip using proprietary protocols like ASHA (Audio Streaming for Hearing Aids), which might not be supported on ChromeOS.
- ConnectClip expecting pairing with Android or iOS, rather than Chromebooks.
Try This Step-by-Step:
Reset Bluetooth:
- On your Chromebook, go to Settings > Bluetooth.
- Turn Bluetooth off and then back on.
- Forget any old devices if ConnectClip shows up but won’t connect.
Put ConnectClip in Pairing Mode:
- Follow Oticon’s pairing instructions. Usually, press and hold the multi-function button until the LED flashes blue.
Pair with Chromebook:
- Go to your Chromebook's Bluetooth settings.
- Wait for “ConnectClip” to appear and try to pair.
Update Chromebook:
- Make sure your ChromeOS is up to date: Settings > About ChromeOS > Check for updates.
Check Audio Output Settings:
- Once paired, click the bottom-right system tray.
- Click the audio settings and make sure your ConnectClip is selected as the output device.
Important Consideration:
The Oticon ConnectClip is optimized for Android and iOS, and often doesn’t work reliably with Chromebooks, or non-phone devices, unless used strictly for microphone or audio streaming over A2DP (which ChromeOS may not fully support for this device).
If you need to use your hearing aids with your Chromebook, consider:
- Using wired headphones when possible.
- Using an intermediary Android device (if available) to bridge the audio.
- Contacting Oticon support to confirm ChromeOS compatibility.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
