Microsoft Windows XP

Hello everyone !!

I have a HP DC 7900SFF desktop, that I've just done a fresh install of Windows XP (Pro 32).

I've got 7 drivers that are not installed. I've played around trying to figure this out, haven't

had any luck. Here's what drivers are missing....

1. Ethernet Controller

2. PCI Device

3. PCI Serial Port

4.PCI SimpleCommunications Controller

5. Unknown Device (on PCI STD  ISA Bridge)

6. Video Controller

7. Video Controller (VGA Compatible)

Any help would be appreciated, but know that I'm not fluent in computer speak, so please be patient and kind.

Thanks,

Mike

Hi, Mike:

Unfortunately, I don't know how to fix a problem like that.

The only suggestion I can offer would be to try the older version of the Intel graphics driver:

6.14.10.5355

sp53559.exe

If that doesn't resolve the problem either, then I recommend you google the error and see what turns up.

Hi, Mike:

First install the Intel chipset installation utility and restart the PC:

sp41165.exe

Then, below are the links to most of the drivers you need:

Ethernet Controller:

Intel Gigabit Network Connection Drivers for Microsoft Windows XP

sp51788.exe

PCI Serial Port:

Intel(R) AMT LMS_SOL for AMT 3.xx

sp41283.exe

PCI SimpleCommunications Controller:

Intel Active Client Manager HECI Device Driver

sp41288.exe

After you install the above drivers, please post the hardware ID's for the remaining devices that still need drivers:

Unknown Device (on PCI STD  ISA Bridge)

PCI Device

Video Controller

Video Controller (VGA Compatible)

Use these steps for how to find the hardware ID for a device in Windows XP:

  1. Click "Start," then "Run." Type "devmgmt.msc" (without quotation marks) and press "Enter."
  2. Locate the unknown device in the list. It will probably be in the "Other Devices" category and marked with a yellow question mark icon.
  3. Double-click the unknown device entry, go to the "Details" tab and select "Hardware IDs" from the drop-down box.
  4. Make a note of the hexadecimal string of four characters following "VEN_" and "DEV_" on the first line. The string following "VEN_" is the device's Vendor ID; "DEV_" denotes the device's Device ID.

VIDEO CONTROLLER - Vendor ID # - 8086 , Device ID# - 2E13

VIDEO CONTROLLER - Vendor ID # - 8086 , Device ID# - 2E12

Hi, Mike

These should be the rest of the drivers you need:

The PCI device is part of the audio system.

If you have installed Windows XP SP2 or older you need to first install this driver, and restart the PC:

You do not need this driver if you installed XP SP3

Microsoft Windows XP SP2 Universal Audio Architecture Update (Q888111)

sp32395.exe

Then you need to install the audio driver and restart the PC.

ADI High-Definition (HD) Audio Driver for Microsoft Windows XP and 2000

sp45614.exe

Restart the PC after installing the driver.

ACPI\1FX0102:

Infineon Trusted Platform Module (TPM) 1.2 Driver for Microsoft Windows XP

2.01.0001

sp40553.exe

Then for both of the video controllers this one driver should install them.

Restart the PC after installing the driver.

Intel Graphics Driver

6.14.10.5420

sp61137.exe

Hi Paul,

Everything is installed except the last driver sp61137.exe

I'm getting an error message that says:

sp61137.exe is not a valid WIN32 application.

Thank you again for sharing your knowledge and expertise !!

Hi Paul,

You are amazing !! That took care of things. No more driver issues !!

I need to take a break... But Thank you again.

Next on my list is getting IE to work.

Getting  :cannot find server error message.

I know i shouldn't be on the internet with this machine. But, I just need to

take care of a couple of things, and I shouldn't need to run the internet anymore.

Mike

Anytime, Mike.

Glad to have been of assistance.

IE doesn't work anymore. I had to use Firefox, which still works.

Firefox 32.0 System Requirements

Microsoft discontinued getting updates via Microsoft Update for XP and Vista.

If you need to update to XP SP3 and whatnot, you will have to individually download the standalone updates from XP which can be found on the Microsoft Update Catalog website.

Cheers,

Paul
