My knowledge is limited but it may have something to do with the laptop having ARM drivers ?
and perhaps I need to download printer drivers - or is it my printer is too old??

Hi @Woopy,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
You're right to suspect that your HP DeskJet 4222e printer issue might be related to your Windows 11 ARM-based laptop. Here's a breakdown of how to fix it:
1. Use HP Smart App (Best for ARM Devices)
HP recommends using the HP Smart app, which is optimized for ARM and handles driver installation automatically:
- Download: HP Smart - Free download and install on Windows | Microsoft Store.
- Open the app and follow the steps to add your printer.
- Make sure your printer is connected via USB or Wi-Fi.
2. Check for ARM-Compatible Drivers
HP’s official driver page for your printer is here:
👉 HP DeskJet 4222e All-in-One Printer Software and Driver Downloads | HP® Support
- If you're using an ARM-based PC, avoid downloading traditional .exe drivers unless they explicitly mention ARM64 support.
- If no ARM-specific driver is listed, the HP Smart app is your best bet.
3. Use Microsoft’s Built-in IPP Class Driver (Fallback)
- Go to Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners > Add device.
- If your printer isn’t detected, click “Add manually” and choose “Add a printer using a TCP/IP address or hostname”.
- Use the IPP Class Driver if prompted—this is a universal driver that works with many HP printers on ARM.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
