HP OmniBook X Flip 14 inch 2-in-1 Laptop Next Gen AI PC 14-fk0000 (AK5G1AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

Hello,

I recently bought my laptop, the HP OmniBook X Flip Laptop 14. The device was working just fine in the first week. However, the laptop started to be in tablet mode while i was using it as a laptop, as in the taskbar looked like it was in tablet mode. Additionally, when I flip the laptop to use it as a tablet, the screen does not flip/rotate the way im holding the laptop. It was working just fine for a few days after i bought it.

Additionally, the hp pen seems to drain its battery even when its not been used for 3 days, and the hp app does not connect to my hp pen, making it quite hard to see the percentage charge.

Hope to resolve all my issues soon,

Thank you

Hi @shramen

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Thank you for sharing your experience so clearly. I’m truly sorry it’s been frustrating—especially when your HP OmniBook X Flip was working beautifully at first. Let’s walk through a focused recovery path to help restore proper tablet mode behavior, screen rotation, and HP Pen connectivity.

Fixing Tablet Mode and Screen Rotation Issues

1. Check Sensor Services

Windows may be mismanaging the rotation sensor after sleep or extended use.

  • Press Windows + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.
  • Scroll to Sensor Service.
    • Ensure it’s Running.
    • Set Startup Type to Automatic (Delayed Start).
    • If stopped, right-click → Start.

2. Prevent Windows from Disabling the Sensor

  • Press Windows + X → Device Manager.
  • Expand Sensors → Right-click your sensor (e.g., “Kionix Fusion Sensor”).
  • Go to Properties → Power Management tab.
  • Uncheck “Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.”

3. Confirm Rotation Settings

  • Go to Settings → System → Display.
  • Scroll down and check if Rotation Lock is enabled.
    • If it’s missing, Windows may not be detecting tablet mode correctly.
  • Try folding the laptop slowly to trigger mode switch.

4. Update BIOS and Drivers

Outdated firmware can interfere with sensor communication.

Fixing HP Pen Battery Drain and Connectivity

1. Check HP Pen Compatibility and Battery

  • Confirm your pen model matches the supported list for your OmniBook.
  • Replace the battery with a fresh AAAA alkaline cell.
  • Store the pen away from metal surfaces or magnets, which can trigger wake signals.

2. Use HP Pen Control App

  • Download from the HP Pen Control Utility Page
  • Open the app → Try reconnecting the pen via Bluetooth (if supported).
  • If the app doesn’t detect the pen, try pairing manually:
    • Go to Settings → Bluetooth & Devices → Add Device.
    • Hold the pen’s Bluetooth button (if present) until it blinks.

Once these steps are complete, your laptop should switch modes correctly and your pen should hold charge more reliably.

If the screen still doesn’t rotate or the pen remains undetected, let me know what behavior you see—I’ll guide you further based on that.

You're close to restoring the smooth, intuitive experience your device was built for.
