Hi @PeteyPat,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The HP Onlooker Detection app uses the computer's built-in camera to detect when someone other than the primary user is looking at the screen. It works in tandem with HP Sure View technology, which blurs or obscures the screen to protect sensitive information.

Proximity for Activation:

The distance at which the Onlooker Detection app activates depends on several factors.

  1. Field of View of the Camera: Typically, it detects faces or eye movements within 2 to 3 feet from the screen.
  2. Angle of Detection: It is most sensitive to onlookers at angles where the face or eyes are clearly visible to the camera.
  3. Lighting Conditions: The detection works better in well-lit environments.
  4. Sensitivity Settings: If your app settings allow, you may adjust the sensitivity to make detection more or less responsive.

When an onlooker is detected, HP Sure View engages to obscure the display, typically within a few seconds of detection.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
